TL; DR

A tour of the latest MSSQL extension capabilities in VS Code, including schema tools, Edit Data, DACPAC workflows, SQL containers, Fabric integration, and new ADS features that deliver a complete end-to-end SQL development experience.

Session Details

The MSSQL extension for Visual Studio Code now brings the most important SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Fabric SQL capabilities into a unified, modern developer experience. This session showcases how the extension has evolved into a comprehensive environment for building, managing, and deploying SQL-backed applications directly from VS Code.

Explore the full suite of core features, including a refreshed UI/UX, visual schema modeling and editing, and schema comparison. Then see the latest additions, including Edit Data (Public Preview) for quick spreadsheet-style updates and DACPAC import/export (Public Preview) with deployment workflows that simplify moving changes across environments. These capabilities work alongside Local SQL Containers for fast local development and Fabric integration with workspace browsing and SQL database provisioning, creating a seamless path from local iteration to cloud deployment.
