Ed Yau

Over a 20 year career, Ed has spent his time working and operating a number of complex data-rich applications. Although my career has toggled between applications architect and data architect, these days I spend most of my time working with data. Currently I spend my time working in Kerv Digital's Data Enablement team; enabling our customers in their missions by strategizing, scoping, delivering their data platforms with technologies such Power BI, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Fabric and Power Platform. I'm a runner as well. When I'm not doing data, that I'm likely to be training for my next big race.

Bender's Brain: How Knowledge Graphs Connect Everything in Fabric IQSQLBits 2026

"I'm 40% knowledge graph!" Bender's brain is a chaotic web of connections that somehow works. Your Microsoft Fabric platform needs the same—knowledge graphs that connect systems, enable context-aware AI, and make sense of your data universe. Come to learn real-world experiences from implementing knowledge graphs across charity fundraising, medical research, and supply chain optimization—basically building Bender's brain for your data platform. You'll learn: When graphs beat Lakehouses or Data Warehouses (and when they don't) How to integrate your data to Fabric IQ and Microsoft Foundry The Robot Devils you'll face: performance black holes, cost explosions, schema nightmares What worked in production vs what belongs in the Hall of Criminals Decision criteria: when graphs unlock value vs when they're just expensive wire

How is Microsoft Foundry like Pokémon?SQLBits 2026

Gotta Catch 'Em All: Building Your AI Agent Team with Microsoft Foundry Every Pokémon trainer knows you don't win with just one overpowered Charizard—you need a balanced team of specialized agents working together. Microsoft Foundry is your Pokédex and Battle System combined, helping you select, train, and orchestrate AI agents that complement each other's strengths. In this session, I'll share real-world battle scars from building agentic AI solutions with Microsoft Foundry across charity fundraising, medical research, and supply chain optimization.

Slaying the Dataverse dragon with copilotSQLBits 2024

Two men versus dataverse. If you have ever worked with PowerPlatform and Dataverse you will know it’s a bit of a dragon. Data goes in, but getting it out in a way that is simple for your data craftsman is not for the faint hearted. We show you how to slay the dataverse dragon with your copilot sword; rescue your data -in-distress and take it to the promised land of SQL Azure and datalakes (which we call home)! We talk about the various hard challenges of using Dataverse as your database, how we are solving these in the realworld on large Power Platform implementations containing Millions of records. And how we’ve turned towards copilot to develop complex data integrations solutions in days rather than weeks/months. If you were skeptical about the power of AI, this session will show you what’s possible with the right application.
